What Does It Truly Mean To "Quit Cubic Castles"?

The topic of “quitting Cubic Castles” is one of multiple perspectives. Talking from experience, since i have quit the game for the last time in 2024, i’ve still kept up with the game in my free time whenever i felt like it, and every once in a while, people would come up to me asking if i came back to playing the game again (though not all comments were as polite as i made it out to be here, as i have come across multiple people who often took offense to the fact i was playing again). Now, in 2025, i’ve decided to be a little more active due to the Halloween event, as that peaked my curiosity, and as you might’ve guessed, this same old questioning of “Is BlackSonatta back to CC?” came to light again, but this time, i actually took to question the concept of “Quitting”, and i would love to hear your opinions on that matter: What do you consider to be a true and definite “Quit” of playing Cubic Castles?

Like i said, i believe that quitting the game is a matter of perspective, which is why i think so many people find it confusing that i keep on playing the game even if i continually say that i quit it. The way i see it, for me to have quit the game means that i have stopped interacting with the game in the way that i used to way back then, with hosting events and doing content creation for YouTube. Also, the fact that i no longer play the game every single day, now playing at best 3 times per week (with the exception of official events in case i’m interested enough, like what happened with Halloween) is another argument for me as to why i consider myself to have quit the game.

In the end, that’s what i believe to be the definition of “To quit Cubic Castles”: “To have stopped interacting with the game in the way that you used to, and to reshape how you interact with it moving forward, whether that means you no longer log into it or you dial your activity down significantly.”. By that definition, i believe that quitting falls onto a spectrum, so it’s up to you to decide what it means to have quit the game by your understanding.

Do you think this way of thinking makes sense? What definition do you have of quitting? I would love to hear your opinions on this thread! Thanks for reading, and as always, have a wonderful day :)

If someone who used to smoke a cigarette every day now only smokes 3 times per week, would you say that the person quit smoking?

Interesting question...

Quitting is a permanent action. You would never say "I quit my job" and go back a few times a year and work there or "I quit eating candy" but eat chocolate once a month. If you stop doing something but occasionally return it then you haven't quit, you just don't do it very often. In CC that would just mean you are mostly inactive or on a break, which is what most people really mean when they say they quit CC. Those who really quit, never return, their realms are dead and their names have mostly been forgotten with a few exceptions.

We can't redefine words to fit our personal meanings or put everything on a spectrum. Quit means bye forever, not bye for now. Just my opinion :D

you could always just say your just part time cc, you quit full time, quit being fully invested in the community and now just a visitor that wants to say hi to old friends and relive good times

I gree with what whim said, you don't HAVE to quit to not play, people should just play whenever they feel like it, without forcing themselves, we all have game phases so we can't really quit since we may reopen the game in 10 years who knows, I don't think you can truly quit until you have your acc and your stuff

Time to invent a new term! "Semi-quitted" 😂 But yeah I agree with all the points you have said here.

This is a really good question.

I feel like quitting on an online game should not be compared to quitting substances in real life, as quitting a game cannot be compared to quitting smoking.

What I feel is if the player has gone online to talk to resume what they have done before in the game or do events or explore features, then I would say the player has not truly quit, but might just be a retired player. If they just get online to give someone something they won (eg. a discord giveaway for an in game item), that technically won't be "not quitted".

I agree with Sonatta, but I am open to adjustments or additions to what I said.

one time i thought i was gonna quit so i gave like 100$+ worth of cubits to my sister, and then i returned like 3 months later lol. Just say you dont wanna play cubic castles for a while thats way more understandable and you wont have people breathing down your neck for free stuff.

Quitting Cubic Castles means permanently stopping the game.
If you stop playing for a year or so, that’s still just a break. People who truly quit never come back.

Personally, I go through phases with the game. I’ll take breaks for a few months, then return for a week or two. I think a lot of players confuse quitting with simply taking a break. Sometimes they intend to quit forever, but eventually return anyway, and that still counts as a break.
Because many players do come back, this cycle is pretty common among so-called “quitters.”

For that reason, I strongly recommend never giving away your assets when you think you’re quitting. Around 75–80% of players end up returning, and many feel discouraged when they realize they’ve given away everything. That disappointment often reduces their enjoyment when they come back, and in some cases might even push them toward quitting for good. Keeping your items makes it easier to take healthy breaks and return to the game smoothly whenever you’re ready.

As others have said here, I think quitting the game would be more like never interacting with it ever again. With me, I don't play as often as I used to when I was younger or when I came back in 2020 for a while, but I still pop in every once in a while to look at new things or just see how the community is, so I would say that it's more like a break if you keep coming back every so often. Quitting is like never picking up the game ever again or never interacting with anything cubic castles related again, since if you quit then you wouldn't want to go back.

when I quit, I gave away all my stuff and tbh i had fun giving it away and connecting more with the community, so even if i do ever come back for however long, I won't regret my decision
